NCU to host forum on new learning technologies
SEVERAL LOCAL and international experts in instructional technology will be among the presenters at an upcoming symposium to be hosted by the Distance Education Centre at Northern Caribbean University (NCU) under the theme ‘Distance Learning: The New Classroom’.
Keynote speakers at the November 14 event are Ready Communications CEO, Christopher Dehring and Dr Robbie Melton from Tennessee State University. She will be presenting on wearable A.I. and smart technologies. Melton will be accompanied by university colleagues Dr Jewell Winn, executive director of international programmes, and Dr Jane Asamani, who will be exploring the topic ‘Open Educational Resources’.
Avery Thompson, assistant director of the Distance Education Centre at NCU, said that the presentations and interactive workshops will be centred on four tracks for the day: ‘Emerging Technologies, ‘Industry Best Practices’, ‘Training and Development for the Workforce’, and ‘Education – Barriers, Opportunities and Trends’.
She explained that the symposium will be of tremendous benefit to both students and instructors engaged in the learning environment, regardless of structure, while highlighting the opportunities afforded to working professionals to fulfil their dream of attaining higher education via distance education.
The event, which will be held in the gymnatorium at NCU’s Mandeville campus, begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
