Dunoon Technical High School

- Rushaine Clarke YOUTHKINK WRITER YOUTHLINK/HONEY

THE Bun High Achievers School Tour rocked Dunoon Technical High School on Friday, October 25, reminding students that education can be fun, and hard work and determination yield rewards.

They screamed in the school’s auditorium, clearly demonstrating their pleasure at having the third staging of the school tour.

According to MC and popular dancehall and media personality Cornelius Grant, “The students of Dunoon High were very respectful, and their reactions and participation was more than anticipated. So far, they have set a standard that I expect the schools we will be at to follow. The vibe was rich, and their display of talent in the lyrics and dancing competitions were excellent. Today has definitely given me greater anticipation for our next stop.”

Not only were they given highly charged entertainment that they will remember for a long time to come, but they also got to purchase copies of Youthlink for $30. Each purchase came with two yummy and mouth-watering products from Honey Bun, which ranged from doughnut roll and cinnamon rolls, to raisin bread and everyone’s favourite – cheese bread. A thirst-quenching and lightly sweetened Squeezz drink was also provided by Wisynco, to help wash down the delectable Honey Bun snacks.

The day started with a dance-off between female and male students. Both demonstrated creativity and style when showcasing out-of-thisworld dancehall moves. Keenly observed by their peers, the decision was finally taken that the females had won, and they got the opportunity to face off with Cornelius. Not only did he give a spine-chilling performance, but also an exceptionally humorous one when he

displayed a very ‘controversial’ dancehall move.

After a few other segments, the 10 high achievers of the school were announced, and Sharilee Stephenson was selected as the most prominent of the 10 and awarded a

$10,000 grant from Honey Bun.

“I’m so proud of my daughter for being awarded by Honey Bun. Sharilee is a bright and disciplined girl, so I am not surprised her efforts have been awarded. Thank you Youthlink and Honey Bun,” expressed her mom, Winsome Brown.

Nearing the close of the event, dancehall artiste Stylo G arrived on the scene with magnificent, theatrical effect. He was a fantastic surprise to the students, who were galvanized

in a whirlpool of buzz and excitement for a very momentous performance to come.

The popular artiste gave a phenomenal performance of his most recent and highly sensational

Touch Down and Dumpling. Though his set only lasted approximately 10 minutes, the students utterly loved him and were deeply struck by his presence. He was full of life, held their attention and incited their participation. After his performance, the artiste proceeded to leave the stage, but was barricaded by many enthusiastic students who sought to touch or take a picture with their much-loved artiste.

The tour is scheduled to run from October 23 – until the end of February 2020, and is sponsored by Squeezz and Sparkling CranWATA.
