A centre of excellence

- ‘Virtue et Sapientia Floreat ‘May She Flourish in Virtue and Wisdom. MARCIA STEWART, PhD Chairman Board of Management

GUIDED BY its mission for the holistic development of our students in an environment conducive to learning and discovery; underpinned by Anglican spirituality, The Queen’s Preparatory School is delighted to be marking its 65th anniversary through this special supplement. Across these years, the school has established itself as a centre of excellence and is proud to be part of the education system charged to develop the young minds of our Jamaican children. As schools strive to find the right recipe to develop the 21st-century Jamaican citizen, it is both a challenging and an exciting time for education as it adapts to the various changes that the system demands. We at The Queen’s Preparatory School are excited to be part of this process. Steeped in our tradition of excellence which has consistently earned us Gold Standard status under Educate Jamaica, we continue confidently in our mission to provide for our students a holistic education, which balances strong academics with a diverse extra-curricular programme, grounded in Christian morality and citizenship.

Indeed, the present builds on the past. We, therefore, give God thanks for the passion and commitment of those who laid the early foundations of the school:

The 1953 synod of the Anglican Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, which passed the resolution to establish the school; previous principals and staff; past boards of management; and the parents who, over these 65 years, have entrusted their children to our care and have contributed to the school’s growth through the strong school and family partnership which has been the part of the school’s ethos. All these groups have contributed to the strength of the school in this year. They have empowered us to look back with pride – and to look forward with optimism and courage, assured of God’s grace in this continuing journey.
