Bravely embracing new challenges

-

IN COMMEMORATING this milestone of our 65th anniversary, I begin by giving God thanks for His faithful guidance and provision over nearly seven decades. In January 1954, the school was officially opened and there began a journey which would lead to unimagined and far-reaching successes. As we reflect on, and draw inspiration from, past achievements, we bravely embrace new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Over the years, the educational programme has expanded to meet the ever-changing needs of the children who walk through our doors. Differentiation in the delivery of lessons and an inclusive approach for our special learners are integral parts of our mission. A robust and growing co-curricular programme has also added great value.

With the support of our board of governors, parents and staff, we valiantly mastered the task of implementing the new National Standards Curriculum and participation in its attendant assessment process. The results of our children in grades four to six for the 2019 sitting of the Primary Exit Profile exams are quite pleasing, and we look forward to even better results in 2020.

Life at The Queen’s Preparatory School is much more than the achievement of examination results; however, good grades are important, as they allow for a wider scope of choices, but this is not the overriding factor in determining student success. Consequently, we provide ample opportunities to publicly acknowledge and congratulate effort and commendable performances in sports, the visual and performing arts, and, of the utmost importance, service to others.

The Queen’s Preparatory School’s standard of excellence is the fruit of those who came before and those in the present to whom the baton has been passed. Steve Green’s popular song, Find

us Faithful, reminds us that we are pilgrims on a journey and that those who have gone before us cheer us on; their successes a testament to God’s sustaining Grace. May those who come behind us find us faithful.

As Queen’s Preparatory School marches steadfastly on to its 70th year, let us be resolute. Let us press on towards the mark, to do our utmost for His highest because we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.
