A higher standard
IT IS with great joy that I extend congratulations to the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica (PSJ) on the occasion of Pharmacy Week 2019. I am delighted to extend my gratitude to the executive, members of PSJ and the founding members for their hard work and continuous determination to advance the pharmacy profession.
Your theme, ‘Access to Pharmacists is Access to Health’, is aligned with our vision, as pharmacists go beyond their potential, seeking ways to transform the profession and for self-actualisation or both.
Your many projects and programmes have deepened our confidence in the service that the PSJ has provided, including but not limited to training workshops, Continuous Education (CEs) and Continuing Professional Development sessions, public forums, and research, to name a few. The PSJ CEs and workshops have encompassed not only pharmacists in Jamaica but the Caribbean to bring pharmacy education sessions to a higher standard.
We also applaud you for your vision for expanding the role of pharmacist services through your lobby for pharmacist to become immunisers, to offer Medication Therapy Management services and advocate for Clinical Pharmacist Posts in the public hospitals to be established.
We are grateful that over the years PSJ continues to foster relationships with the University of Technology, Jamaica Association of Pharmacy Students, so that they are more aware of the operations of the organisation and share in its vision.
Every blessing on all your activities as you celebrate Pharmacy Week 2019. ANDREA M. WILKINS DALY
