Heroi Dog Show expects 1,000 canines
HEROI DOG Show and Obedience Trail organiser Morris Goode said they will be using the event to sensitise owners on how to take better care of their canines.
The event, which is one of the biggest dog shows in the island, is scheduled for its fifth staging on December 1 at Caymanas Park in St Catherine.
Goode said the event has been well supported since its inception and he is expecting and another massive turnout this year.
“It is an educational fun day event for all dog owners because we are going to have trainers who will be teaching persons how to handle and treat their dogs,”
Goode said.
“No person can carry more than one dog because if you carry two dogs then the other will have to be in a cage at the event. We will be also educating persons on what these dogs should eat, how to feed them, and train them.”
Goode said that he is expecting over 1,000 dogs at this year’s event.
“This event has attracted over 2,000 persons each year, so we are expecting to have a massive crowd this year because it is a very nice family-oriented event,” he said.
“Last year, we had over 700 dogs and this year I am expecting over 1,000 because a lot of persons are gravitating to the event; they are looking forward to bring their dogs out.”
Goode said that there will also be a dominoes tournament on the day and a children’s area. However, no dogs will be granted access there.
Nera della Terrazza, a dog imported from Italy, was the top German Shepherd at the Jamaica All Breed Championships, which was held last Sunday at the Jamaica 4-H Clubs on Old Hope Road, St Andrew.
The event was officiated by international judge Anne-Chaterine Edoff from Sweden.
