THE SENSATIONAL Youthlink/Honey Bun High Achievers School Tour on Tuesday, February 18, stopped in Alexandria, St Ann, at Aabuthnott Gallimore High School. The school – which was the second stop for the day, immediately after St Hilda’s High – was treated to exciting exhibitions, including spine-tingling dancing from Honey Bun’s third-dimension dancers, ‘Ice’ and ‘Dillon”, as well as rib-tickling parodies from popular media personality and MC Cornelius Grant. Upon arrival at the school, probing teachers and students immediately began to gather on the scene where the stands were being set up. As soon as Honey Bun displayed their products, whispers became moderate screams among the students, who were clearly anxious to get their hands on some free and tasty Honey Bun snacks.

The official event kicked off with an amazing Honey Bun dance competition which saw a group of three students, Jevoni Williams, Rockeillo Swaby, and Omarie Bertram – who called themselves Starlife Dancers – deliver a synergistic routine that overwhelmingly appealed to their supportive schoolmates. As they danced, the Honey Bun Dancers, as well as other students, couldn’t help but find their way to the stage to dance with them. All this while the DJ shook the school complex with Kemaricon’s Talk Bout, Squash’s Skotch & Soda, and TommyLee Sparta’s Under Vibes.

Next up was the Honey Bun modelling competition, where Aldaine Hibbert came out as the champion after gaining massive support against his competitors. The Sparkling CranWATA jingle competition was another exciting display that had students and teachers laughing non-stop. Music teacher Leon Campbell was finally bested by student Cejay McFarlane, who claimed the gift basket filled with Sparkling CranWATA.

EXCITEMENT

The day continued with the Sparkling CranWATA push-up challenge and Youthlink’s Q&A giveaways, but when a male teacher decided to assume the role of selector, the entire Aabuthnott Gallimore family erupted in a tempest of excitement and enthralment. MC Cornelius further ignited the spirit of excitement after taking over from the teacher. His selection, which included Vybz Kartel’s Seet Yah, was the perfect song to close a successful day. As a way of saying thank you for an exciting day, the school provided baked chicken with pineapple sauce lunches for everyone.

“Initially, I was feeling lethargic because I’ve been working very hard lately and have not received much rest as yet, but the level of participation and vibes displayed by the students at Aabuthnott Gallimore High was so abundant, I had to reciprocate their energy! I enjoyed myself here. It felt as though we were at a stage show, because everyone was involved; the teachers, students and auxiliary staff were in high gear,” said Cornelius.

This season’s tour ran from mid-January to the end of February, and was sponsored by Squeezz and Sparkling CranWATA.
