Avant Music Academy launches ONLINE CLASSES

-

THE MUSIC mentors at Avant Music Academy hosted a one-hour concert on Facebook Live on Thursday, May 28, to launch the resumption of their music education programme, which is now exclusively online.

“Our music mentors gave a brief performance that was enhanced by a musical discussion to give a preface of the type of practical lesson that our online classes entail while taking advantage of the social platforms that are bringing music into the homes of audiences globally,” said co-founder and CEO of Avant Seretse

Small. “The performances showcased the skill of those who will teach the students as they entertained the digital audience with local classics accentuated by the interaction between some of our current students who are benefiting from the programme,” Small continued.

With almost a decade of experience in music education, Avant Music Academy’s online offerings include piano, bass guitar, and drums, as well as music production techniques using technology.

“As a social enterprise, we [take pride in] impacting lives through professional music training; therefore, as we adjust to living with a pandemic, learning a new musical skill during this time may not only prove beneficial professionally but also be therapeutic,” said Small.

Daily class schedules are between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Monday through Friday, with an additional class from 11 a.m. to noon from Tuesday to Friday. “We are building a world-class music educational system that meets global standards while being sensitive to local needs. So in an effort to minimise the disruption to our current students and expand our services to new audiences while observing social-distancing protocols, we have launched our music education programme this month until July 31, 2020,” said Small.

Students who are admitted to the online programme will continue to benefit from a mentorship programme to facilitate personal development and a referral programme for career development with the opportunity to benefit from scholarships and bursaries.
