Keeping the insurance industry buoyant
MY INCISIVE, unwavering Jamaica Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (JAIFA) team kindly accepts greetings from the editor’s desk, as we present our Gleaner feature for administrative year 2019-2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic has, undoubtedly, not only negatively impacted the Jamaican economy, but it inevitably resulted in a global economic downturn. Nonetheless, our JAIFA members have been resilient in keeping the insurance industry buoyant. We express admiration to our wider membership, and we unhesitatingly say that we are proud of you all.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has implemented several restrictions of movement globally, aimed at curbing the spread of the dreaded disease. Hence, it is vital that we continue to proceed with caution as we provide benefits to our clients, their loved ones, our families, and ourselves, while upholding the JAIFA constitution and by-laws to the best of our abilities.
With that said, you will agree that this JAIFA administrative year has been met
with numerous uncertainties, income reduction and social distancing, resulting in the cancellation/suspension of several of our planned events, meetings, and other activities.
Happenings such as CARAIFA Congress 2020, JAIFA Awards Ceremony, Health Fair Week activities, Million Dollar Round Table Conference 2020, among others, have all been cancelled. And on the global landscape, most meetings are now been held via Zoom. Members all, we shall and will overcome.
We are encouraging our wider membership to exploit the educational courses for the advancement of career actualisation. In addition, please ensure that you attend the motivational sales conferences when the WHO gives clearance for safe travel and the adherence of social distancing is lifted.
Congratulations to our diligent team members who were promoted recently, all Agency Management Training Course graduates and Financial Services Certified Professional designees. We must express commendation to our industrious members and our meticulous JAIFA Secretariat for their dedication to the association over the years.
President Nehemiah Perry was featured on TVJ’s Profile with Fae Ellington on two consecutive Sundays, April 5 and 12, at 5:30 p.m. History was created by our public relations (PR) department, as this was the very first time that a JAIFA president was appearing on the programme.
Additionally, our PR department has been working assiduously in recording some short three-minute videos, highlighting the successes of our financial advisors, managers and vice-presidents within the insurance industry. These videos have been posted on our social media platform, and can be viewed on YouTube by typing JAIFA. Follow us also on Instagram and interact with us on our Facebook page at ‘JAIFA Hope Road’. We would love to hear from you. Blessings from the Almighty God!
