Greenwich Town ZOSO
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the imposition of a zone of special operations (ZOSO) in Greenwich Town, St Andrew, on Wednesday.
The community, which falls in the St Andrew South Police Division, which is already under a state of public emergency, is reportedly experiencing increased gang activity.
Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson disclosed that for the first six months of the year, there were seven murders in Greenwich Town, including two double murders.
Pointing to the success of ZOSOs, he said that Denham Town, for example, has seen a 30 per cent reduction in murders and a 60 per cent drop in shootings.
