French navy commander, UK beauty Hall of Famer roll with Deiwght Peters Sunday

-

WHAT DOES a French naval ship commanding officer and a multiple award-winning London hairstylist share in common? Both make the shortlist of guests appearing on the newest episode of Rolling with Deiwght Peters this Sunday on Television Jamaica (TVJ). Lieutenant Commander Frederic Ollive and Desmond Murray share the spotlight on Sunday’s show and share stories that define their respective career paths.

A decorated figure in the French navy, Ollive recently captained the transatlantic voyage of the Dumont d’uberville to Jamaica’s shores. The vessel’s stopover on the island earlier this month saw Ollive and his 26-man crew of officers, petty officers, quartermasters and sailors engaged with the Jamaica Defence Force and Coast Guard on several exercises, including sea rescue operations and beach reconnaissance.

“I was i ntrigued f rom the moment I received the call from the Embassy of France that the ship was visiting, and accepted the invitation for the exclusive tour. After all, it’s not every day such an opportunity presents itself, and I knew it would be a treat for my viewers who enjoy the show’s weekly exclusives,” Peters told The Gleaner,

He added, “It was a remarkable learning experience and a true pleasure meeting Commander Ollive.”

Meanwhile, Peters’ long-time friend Desmond Murray zoomed in from across the pond to talk about his impressive four-decades long professional journey as a hairstylist and photographer working in the beauty, fashion and publishing industries. Murray, who has a storied history with Saint International as a collaborator on creative projects from the model agency’s formative years, is a repeat winner of the British Hairdressing Awards, Black Hair and Beauty Stylist of the Year, and the L’oreal Photo Fashion Award, among a host of other trophied recognitions. His celebrity client list includes Julia Roberts and Destiny’s Child.

Peters also hosts what he calls a ‘Zoom-table’, featuring players in the entertainment industry to discuss the outlook and realities facing the industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Guests for this include Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams, Howard Mcintosh, chairman of the Entertainment Advisory Council, and leading entertainment events producer P.J. Wright.

Rolling with Deiwght Peters airs exclusively on TVJ on Sundays at 4 p.m. and repeats Wednesdays at 1:05 p.m.
