Credit unions receive 2020 performance awards
THE ANNUAL Credit Union of the Year Awards competition recognises credit unions that have performed exceptionally well in different areas of their operations.
The competition is based on the PEARLS ratio which measures credit unions’ standards of operation worldwide. This year’s winners were announced at the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League’s (JCCUL) annual general meeting on Saturday, June 5, and received their awards at an awards ceremony on Thursday, June 24.
Three Credit Union of the Year awards were presented to credit unions in different categories based on their asset sizes: Large, medium-sized and small.
The Small-sized Credit Union of the Year award went to Grace Co-operative Credit Union and the runner-up award went to Essential and Emergency Services & Partners Co-operative Credit Union. The Medium-sized Credit Union of the Year award went to JDF Co-operative Credit Union, while the runner-up award went to Portland Co-operative Credit Union. The Large-sized Credit Union of the Year award went to Community & Workers of Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union and the runner-up award went to JTA Co-operative Credit Union.
Some credit unions also received incentives for performing exceptionally well in areas of operations such as asset growth, solvency and net capital growth. The Highest Asset Growth award went to Grace Co-operative Credit Union. The Highest Solvency award went to JDF Co-operative Credit Union. The Highest Net Capital Growth award went to JTA Co-operative Credit Union.
Once again CPD Online awards were given to a credit union and staff who had taken advantage of the training courses offered by the JCCUL and administered by CUNA Mutual. The courses assist staff with professional development and further certification.

The CPD Online Top Performing Credit Union was awarded to First Regional Co-operative Credit Union and the CPD Online Top Performing Credit Union runner-up award went to Lascelles Employees & Partners Co-operative Credit Union.
