Good Times one of the first parties post-lockdown

-

GOOD TIMES, arguably the slickest retro party, is making its comeback as one of the first events since the official opening of the entertainment sector, and the organisers are eager to test the waters.

A yesteryear party, known as much for dancing as it is for patrons who sometimes attend dressed to the nines in retro outfits, Good Times offers the best music of the ‘80s and ‘90s. A unique version of the event will be held on Saturday, July 3, and fans will be taken to a place deep in history: Port Royal.

“It will be held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, formerly Morgan’s Harbour Hotel, and start time is 5 p.m. sharp,” the organisers stated in a release.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event has limited in-person capacity. However, through a joint effort between Headline Entertainment, Caribcast, Change Makers, and CaribTix Good Times, it will be available via livestream at caribcast.com/goodtimes.

Though the livestream will be available for free, an online ‘donate’ button will be made available to collect funds that will aid the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre.

There is also an overnight package for those who want to stay at the hotel. For $20,000, patrons will receive two tickets to Good Times, plus overnight double occupancy accommodation.

PROTOCOLS WILL BE OBSERVED

Good Times will be held on the outside and will allow patrons enough space to party safely, given the social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols that will be in place. Cut off time for those who are not overnighting is 10 p.m., in order for party-goers to reach home before the 11 p.m. curfew.

“Those who are staying the night can party a little longer than the normal guests because the DJ will be staying over as well,” the organisers explained.

Good Times was held first in 1996, and over the next 20 years, played a big part in the resurgence of popular oldies parties. It has been dubbed the premium retro party and features the best DJ’s skilfully mixing the hits from the mid-’70s to the ‘90s in a no-talking session.

The Summer 2021 staging of Good Times will feature DJ Kurt Riley, Mix Master Marvin, and Renaissance with DJ Delano.
