Building Jamaican businesses one recruit at a time

-

THE FOUNDING of DOT Personnel Services on October 6, 1971, was the culmination of a personal passion and a promise made by its founder to a dying father many years before, to ensure that her siblings and other graduates were placed in meaningful jobs after they left school, whether in the area of temporary staffing, permanent or contract personnel.

DOT Personnel applies care and diligence in matching appropriate recruits to complementary organisations and vacancies. The team is especially focused on providing support to Jamaican business, reducing the impact of brain drain on the economy.

The company also sponsors the annual Boss of the Year Award of the Jamaica Association of Administrative Professionals.

Mrs Gordon is a past student of Top Hill Primary, St Elizabeth; Carron Hall Rural Secondary Technical School, now Carron Hall High school; College of Arts, Science & Technology, now The University of Technology, Jamaica, where she studied personnel management and industrial relations, followed by an MA in law and employment relations from the University of Leicester (UK).

As the holder of accreditations from several international organisations, including the Association of Canadian Search & Employment Services (certified personnel consultant), the Society for Human Resource Management (USA), the Human Resource Professionals Association (Canada), and the Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica, and the Jamaica Customer Service Association, the company applies internationally approved standards to its operations.

In its role as employment staffing and human resource consultants, DOT Personnel ensures that recruitment costs are nominal to applicants. The impact of fastchanging technology and culture changes have, interestingly, had little negative impact on the company’s operations because of the personal nature of its business. It has, however, taken advantage of the available resources to remain connected to its clients and has, over the years, expanded its presence to include a website and social media platforms. The company, however, continues to secure most of its clients through referrals from past satisfied clients. The number of past clients who have been placed by the company, and have retired from a fulfilling career, is a constant reminder of the company’s stellar contribution to the success of many professionals across industries.

The DOT team of seven remains as committed to their clients as the team of two that created the foundation of the organisation at its then Balmoral Avenue location.

The team at DOT Personnel is using the occasion of its 50th anniversary to pledge its continued service to the next generation of Jamaican employers and recruits.

Together we will continue to build on a proud legacy.

DOTSIE M. GORDON, Founder/Managing Director, DOT Personnel
