What a milestone!
THE PRIVATE Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) extends heartiest congratulations to our member organisation, DOT Personnel Services (Jamaica) Ltd – and to its founder Mrs Dotsie Gordon – on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. What a milestone! Over five decades, this company has created a remarkable track record of customer service and employment relations, and continues to grow in 2021.
DOT Personnel Services clearly has staying power. Since its founding in 1971, it has developed a remarkable level of expertise and a reputation for reliability, as it works with jobseekers and employers, both locally and overseas. The company not only consults on recruitment and selection processes, but also advises on planning and project management, while building capacity for Jamaican entities through training seminars and workshops. These enhanced services are appreciated and widely utilised by both the private sector and by government agencies.
At the PSOJ, we consider human resource development a critical factor in Jamaica’s economic growth. Quality employees can transform the workplace, boosting efficiency and productivity, and creating the kind of working environment that fosters harmonious internal and external relations. In today’s world, perhaps more than ever, there is no substitute for a Jamaican worker who is willing to go the extra mile and produce excellent results. There is also the ongoing need for companies to offer meaningful and rewarding opportunities to its workforce. This is in keeping with the intent and purpose of Jamaica’s Vision 2030, related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #8: To promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
It is shocking to note that the COVID19 pandemic has led to the loss of the equivalent of 255 million full-time jobs. According to the UN, this represents about four times the number of jobs lost during the global financial crisis of 2007-8. As we seek to emerge and rebound from the ongoing pandemic, the issue of employment will take centre stage. We need to get Jamaicans back to work – in particular, our young men and women. Companies like DOT Personnel Services will no doubt play an important role in rebuilding, strengthening, and transforming our employment landscape.
Warm congratulations to DOT Personnel Services on its first half-century. You are the epitome of resilience and consistency of purpose. We eagerly anticipate your next 50 years.
