FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE

-

IN HIS book, The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren states that “Life is meant to be shared – the Bible calls this shared experience ‘Fellowship’, because God intends for us to experience life together as a body. We were created for community, fashioned for fellowship and formed for a family. We are interconnected and none of us can fulfil God’s purpose by ourselves”.

By extension, we all experience a sense of belonging and so we see the church as a source for fulfilling this need. We are also conscious that the church is made up of many parts and will face many challenges. Therefore, in order to address them, activities are planned to engender meaningful life together as a family.

As the relationship between us (the church) and the community grew over the years, we extended and formed an outreach programme – The Parent Support Group - which was launched on November 3, 2013 with the theme: ‘Shaping a New Generation One Home at a Time’. The objectives are:

1. To strengthen the family foundation and confront issues affecting parents and children.

2. To encourage positive relationships with parents, children and the community.

3. To teach skills that will assist in personal use and as a source of income.

4. To develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle on a small budget.

In addition, tips are given for making an impact on the lives of individuals. Such as:

• Managing finances – living within one’s means.

• Teaching and applying basic First Aid.

• Practising healthy habits e.g. environmental awareness.

• Meal planning, eg one-pot meal.

Fellowship is an integral part of the church’s life, let us continue to embrace its importance!
