The following events took place on November 2 in the years identified:

1965: of the establishm­ent An announceme­nt in official Jamaica of a factory by the Goodyear Tyre Company of Akron, Ohio, United States, is made, bringing to an end a long period of negotiatio­n and unofficial disclosure­s that the factory was going to be set up in the island.

1967: Prime Minister and Minister of External Affairs, Hugh Shearer is presented with a copy of the Letters of Credence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Austria, Dr Peter Mueller, at Jamaica House.

1967: Minister of Education Edwin Allen tells the House of Representa­tives that regulation­s and a code of conduct are to be drafted, with the aim of banning politics in schools.

1967: Two goals by Jamaica Regiment’s outside left, Delroy Greene sparks his team to a 2-0 win over first year Division 1 entrants Real Mona, in the first game of a double-header at the National Stadium.

1975: The first two ministers to be appointed from the Jamaican Senate and assigned portfolios, are announced by Prime Minister Michael Manley. They are Senator Dudley Thompson, Minister of External Affairs, and Senator Douglas Manley, Minister of Youth and Community Developmen­t.

1982: David Rockefelle­r and William Sneath, joint chairmen of the US Business Committee on Jamaica, arrive at the Norman Manley Internatio­nal Airport by private jet for meetings with the counterpar­t committee in Jamaica. The purpose of the visit is to review with the Prime Minister’s Committee on Foreign I nvestments and Employment activities. Rockefelle­r will also meet to Prime Minister Edward Seaga.
