ST JAGO High School head coach Jerome Waite is looking for an improvement on their 2-2 draw with St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) when they face Jonathan Grant High School in a Spanish Town derby in Group B of the ISSA Manning Cup at the Spanish Town Prison Oval today at 3 p.m.

However, Waite said the draw against the previous season’s runners-up, after only five weeks of training, is a positive.

He anticipates a tough encounter from their rivals this afternoon, but he said they are prepared for the challenge.

“They did feel well because it was the first we were playing a game, and even though it was a league game, we looked at it as a practice game,” Waite said.

“It was a good result as we also ended up missing a penalty in the first half.

“So it has to be a positive because St Andrew has been to two of the last two finals.

“It also speaks volumes that a team that has been training for only so long, with youngsters who were inactive, got together in a five-week period and they did fairly well. So we can only get better as the season progresses.” Waite said although Jonathan Grant was impressive in their 2-0 win over Jose Marti on Friday, and will fancy their chances of another three points, he is optimistic that his team can get the job done.

“Our defence is something we have to look at, but to score two goals against against a team that has been doing well for the last few competitions means we can only get better from here. So I am very positive going into this game,” he said.
