Devon House – a full experience anyone can enjoy

-

DEVONHOUSEremains as iconic now as it was when it was built 140 years ago, and the Jamaica Tourist Board wishes to express sincere congratulations on the celebration of this milestone. Devon House represents the best that we have to offer in terms of black excellence, history, and culture.

When George Stiebel decided to erect Devon House in 1881 as his family home, little did he know that its walls and environs would become a cherished respite for so many locally and from abroad.

It is an oasis in the bustling Kingston as many flock to relax on sprawling manicured lawns or to grab a flavour of world-renowned Devon House I Scream. We in tourism can attest to Devon House’s global pull factor as visitors everywhere tend to make this a ‘must stop’ on their itineraries.

Devon House, as a beloved iconic structure, continues to stand out and stand tall, and is one of Jamaica’s most important assets. In fact, Devon House has simply become synonymous with all things Jamaican. From ice cream and patties to Jamaican memorabilia, Devon House has been transformed into a full experience anyone can enjoy.

As we look towards preserving this iconic landmark for another 140 years and beyond, we congratulate the board and management of Devon House on your insight and continued stewardship. We know it is no easy feat, but this milestone highlights the commitment and dedication to the task, and for this we applaud you.
