May you continue to grow in service and success

IT BRINGS me great pleasure to share in the 10th anniversary celebrations of the First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union Limited (FHC). With over 100 years of combined heritage, FHC has spent the past 10 years serving its valued members with excellent services and products.

The First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union Limited celebrates this milestone anniversary under the theme ‘POWER UP! Strong Legacy ... Embracing New Frontiers’. This is a very felicitous theme, as it speaks of the FHC’S historical legacy and its continued work of providing the best services for its clients.

First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union Limited was established on August 1, 2012, from the merger of Churches Co-operative Credit Union and GSB Co-operative Credit Union. The process that started in October 2010 came to an end with the FHC, the first merger of this size in the history of the credit union movement, being established.

Credit unions are a vital part of our country’s economy. They are financial co-operatives that are customer-/member-owned, democratically governed by their members, and run with the goal of increasing the economic benefit of their members by offering financial services at reasonable and competitive prices. This business model commends itself to, and is trusted by, ordinary Jamaicans.

Since the year 2020, Jamaica has had over 25 credit unions with over one million members and over J$90 billion in savings. Our party has always been committed to the credit union movement, as we share the values and beliefs of community and working together to create a better quality of life for the people of Jamaica.

My best wishes to the First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union Limited. May you continue to grow in service and success.

Happy 10th anniversary!

MARK J. GOLDING, MP Leader of the Opposition
