Their love is ... No game

ON A beach surrounded by family and friends, entrepreneur Lyndon Dawes asked the love of his life, attorney-at-law Rachael Brown, to be his wedded wife. What began with the two meeting each other on a games night progressed to going on a first date to a play and loving each other all the way to holy matrimony.

Lyndon might have been the one to pop the question, but it was Rachael who made the first move towards courtship. “The first date, I asked him out, and he made fun of me because I took him to a play. That’s the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. So it was a great date,” she told Island Wedding.

But these two were far from strangers. In fact, the pair had known each other for over a decade before dating exclusively. Thanks to fate, the dynamic duo took a romantic ride and have been arriving at their destination of love and happiness ever since.

Describing his darling as smart, loyal, nerdy, miserable and beautiful, Lyndon explained that Rachael has always spoken life into him, giving him the motivation and support he needs to pursue any of his passions. “She is always the one who says, ‘Yes, babe, just do it because you know it will work out.’ She has nurtured our relationship by having patience with me and loving me unconditionally,” he said.

Rachael continues to be amazed by how kind, loyal, charismatic, sweet and handsome her beloved is. “He is always helping others, knows how to charm people without any effort, and he is always thinking of ways to make me happy and smile in the most romantic ways.”

She can take on any new challenges by tapping into and unleashing her brave side. Lyndon has been supportive of her ideas and endeavours, and he is helping her reach new milestones.

He was already there for her through sickness and health. And as far as nurturing their union goes, it was always important to him that they work on bettering themselves as individuals, so that they can be better in their relationship.

The couple takes great pleasure in sharing lovey-dovey moments, providing ‘just because’ prizes and delightful surprises for every occasion. You will find the happy couple anywhere there is a large body of water. The duet has already made amorous melodies at Rockhouse Hotel and Spa in Negril, and Seacliff Resort and Spa in Portland.

After dating for a year and a half, it was only fitting that Lyndon returned to the sandy seashores to ask Rachael to marry him.

“We always loved going to The Cove beach by Drax Hall in St Ann, so I decided to do it there and informed a few friends. I told her that since it’s the first time we will have both families present, I think we should get a photographer and get pictures, so she wouldn’t find it weird when a guy shows up to take pictures. When everyone was taking pictures, the photographer told her he wanted a picture of us together, and he positioned her and told her, ‘Do not turn around.’ I got on one knee, but before I could even get on the knee properly, she turned around in true Rachael form and saw the ring. She was still surprised, though. And said yes,” Lyndon shared.

Rachael wasn’t your typical or traditional bride-to-be. Although she had a wedding planner, she cared not for the girly aspect of the nuptials. But she embraced the learning experience and looked forward to exchanging vows at Laughing Waters in Ocho Rios.

On June 15, Lyndon and Rachael followed their hearts and became husband and wife. Showers of blessing came raining down as the two exchanged vows, a highlight for Rachael and Lyndon. “I was married, I was happy, and our guests stayed with us even in the rain. We had a wonderful time,” the groom said.

As for the official waltz as husband and wife, “We had our first dance to John Legend’s Conversations In The Dark. I was so happy,” the bride declared.
