Runaway Algo destroys Seeking My Dream field
RUNAWAY ALGO destroyed open-allowance runners in yesterday’s Seeking My Dream, clocking a blistering 1:30.4 for seven and a half furlongs, the exact time he posted at the distance last September.
The writing was on the wall from the off with distance-specialist CALCULUS being an unlikely chaser down the backstretch, tracking RUNAWAY ALGO in kindergarten fractions of 35.2 for the first three furlongs.
It was goodbye time leaving the half-mile marker after RUNAWAY ALGO accelerated into 47.0 and 59.2 on his bridle entering the straight.
By the time Linton Steadman applied two underhand reminders a furlong out, RUNAWAY ALGO had left the field for dead in a six-furlong split of 1:10.2, sprinting clear in 1:23.3 for seven, rounded off by 7.1 seconds for the last half-furlong.
RUNAWAY ALGO’s winning margin of thirteen and a half lengths confirmed his status as a grade-one runner, who belongs nowhere near open-allowance company.
BACK-TO-BACK VICTORIES
CALCULUS outfinished BLUE VINYL for second, rallying in the stretch run after being headed off by the four-yearold, who was hyped at 6-5 in the betting after impressive back-to-back victories in overnight allowance events.
