THE MCKENLEY-WINT Classics at Calabar High, Central Hurdles and Relays meet at G. C. Foster College and the Montego Bay Comets Development meet in St James will be in the spotlight today as the 2024 track and field season continues.

The McKenley-Wint which starts at 8 a.m. will attract most attention as the likes of Hydel High, Kingston College (KC), Jamaica College (JC) and Calabar will be strongly represented and events are expected to be very competitive.

In the Class One boys 100 metres JC’s trio of Hector Benjamin, Christopher Scott and Dontae Watson will go up against Kamani Gordon of Calabar and Gary Card of Wolmer’s Boys’ School in a mouth-watering clash.

In the Class Two 100m, the in-form Johan Smythe of Muschett High and Calabar’s Zacre Braham are the two-top contenders here.

Among the girls the Class Two 100m will take the spotlight as three top-quality sprinters led by Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia High, Shanoya Douglas of Muschett, and Hydel’s Shemonique Hazle will face the starter. Dockery, Douglas and Hydel’ s Jodyann Daley will also meet in the 400m.

At G. C. Foster, Edwin Allen High and St Jago High are the two-top female teams down to participate. The 400m hurdles open will take top billing here as Edwin Allen’s Natasha Fox and Kellyann Carr will clash with St Jago’s Quana Walker.

Demarco Barrett of Excelsior High will lead Class Two athletes in the event while in Class One Dante Wright, also of Excelsior, and Brandon Harris of St Jago are the top-two contenders.

The Class Two girls’ 100m hurdles is another event which is expected to be very competitive. St Jago’s Bryana Davidson and Briana Campbell, Shellyann Taylor of Excelsior and Angel Robinson of Edwin Allen look set to have a close battle.

The boys’2000m steeplechase open has attracted two Africabased athletes who should have an intriguing tussle. KC’s Brian Kiprop out of Kenya will meet JC’s Evans Tetteh, a Ghanaian.

Senior 60m sprinters will get another chance to prepare for this year’s World Indoor Championships.
