- PHILIP RAMSON President Jamaica Chamber of Commerce

THE JAMAICA Customs Agency (JCA) serves as a cornerstone in fortifying the resilience of our domestic economy. Its responsiveness to the evolving needs of existing stakeholders and proactive engagement with potential partners are pivotal in the context of a national imperative to broaden participation in the trade sector.

In its capacity as a long-standing partner, the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) relies upon the JCA’s knowledge and expertise to guide both well-established members and start-ups in navigating trade pathways, ensuring compliance with local and international obligations. The JCA’s commendable adoption of new technologies and systems facilitates seamless integration into the intricate international network of trading and trans-shipment partners, consistently positioning Jamaica in the top tiers of regional Customs administrations.

The collaboration between the JCC and the JCA extends to the hosting of an annual Customs Seminar in Kingston over the past two decades, aimed at familiarising the business community with timely developments preceding the peak trading season. The JCA’s active participation in outreach programmes and the establishment of subcommittees for soliciting feedback underscore its commitment to service excellence and operational refinement.

The entire Jamaican economy stands to gain from the effective management of Customs operations, creating additional value for all partners involved. The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce anticipates a continued and mutually enriching collaboration with the JCA in the years ahead.
