FLOW champions Internet safety
– Promotes responsible use of digital technology among youth
FLOW JAMAICA, a leading advocate for online safety, will focus on the country’s youth as it encourages positive online behaviour and raises awareness among users of online technology on February 6 – Safer Internet Day.
The company’s FLOW Foundation will join its Liberty Latin America (LLA) counterparts and other organisations in promoting safer and more responsible use of digital technology.
As part of its Safer Internet Day activities, the FLOW Foundation will host a Youth Summit at the Kendal Camp and Conference Centre in Mandeville under the theme: Cyber Life: Balancing Safety with Opportunities. The summit will host over 300 students and will feature an impressive panel, including two of Jamaica’s top content creators – Tami Chin Mitchell and Quite Perry, psychologist Yanique Peddlar, IT experts, and student leaders.
Flow has been a long-time champion of online safety, and is committed to empowering individuals to navigate the digital world securely, fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and empathy online.
Marilyn Sealy, senior director of communications at Cable and Wireless Communications, in a media release, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s involvement in the initiative.
“In today’s digital age, ensuring a safer Internet experience is not just a responsibility; it’s a necessity,” Sealy emphasised. Safer Internet Day serves as a timely reminder for all of us to prioritise online safety and well-being. At Flow, we are dedicated to fostering a secure digital environment and empowering users with the necessary skills to make informed and responsible choices online.”
Sealy further emphasised the need for collective efforts, noting, “Safer Internet Day is a moment for reflection, education, and action. We believe that, by working together with communities, educators, and industry stakeholders, we can create a safer and more positive online experience for everyone. Flow is proud to contribute to this global movement and play a pivotal role in shaping a safer digital future.”
Flow encourages individuals, schools, businesses, and communities to join the Safer Internet Day conversation by understanding the fundamentals of Internet safety and participating in various online events, using the hashtags #SaferInternetDay and#ConnectedandProtected.
