Reggae Boyz Reid, Hutchinson enjoy good days in English leagues
REGGAE BOY Omari Hutchinson scored a dramatic injury-time equaliser to help embattled promotionchasing Ipswich avoid a third straight defeat in a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion yesterday.
With time ticking away at Portman Road on Saturday, the 20-year-old Hutchinson lashed in his fourth goal of the season in the third minute of injury time to earn the hosts a share of the points.
The result left Ipswich fourth in the Championship on 60 points, only four points off the automatic promotion spots.
Ipswich were twice forced to come from behind. Twenty-year-old Tom Fellows opened the scoring in the 18th minute with his third goal in five games when he out-muscled centre-back Luke Woolfenden down the left before drilling home from a narrow angle.
Nathan Broadhead equalised at the start of the second half when he blasted a volley in at the far post from seven yards after West Brom failed to clear a loose ball.
While the visitors were in front again on 76 minutes, courtesy of John Swift’s long-range effort, Hutchinson crowned himself in glory with the game all but gone, sweeping in a loose ball from 12 yards out after West Brom yet again failed to clear a loose ball.
In the Premier League, another Reggae Boy, Bobby Reid, got on the scoresheet with his sixth goal of the campaign as Fulham thrashed Bournemouth 3-1 at Craven Cottage.
The 31-year-old got the opening goal in the fifth minute, pouncing after midfielder Lewis Cook slipped inside the penalty area and lost possession, to produce a low drive in at the far post with goalkeeper Neto well beaten.
Reid then turned provider, setting up the first of Rodrigo Muniz’s two goals as the Brazilian scored in the 36th and 52nd, to sandwich Marcos Senesi’s 50th-minute reply for the Cherries.
Fulham lie 12th on 29 points while Bournemouth are one below them on 27.
