Best & WORST Valentine’s Day gifts

-

THE FOLLOWING are some responses that Jamaicans gave when they were asked about the ideal and worst Valentine’s Day gift they had ever received:

FEMALES RESPONSES:

D.G.

Worst: Two gifts come to mind for the worst valentine’s day gift I ever received. One was a re-gifted teddy bear with White-out used to mark out the other person’s name and the second was a book about fitness.

Ideal: Ideal valentine’s day gift would probably be personalised jewellery or a simple dinner with a handwritten card.

M.W.

Worst: Not receiving a gift. Ideal: A gift certificate to the space to do a full-body massage and facial.

T.C.

I haven’t had a bad valentine’s day gift really.

Ideal: Something ideal for me is anything that you can tell the person put thought into.

S.S. Worst:

Okay, so the worst gift I’ve ever got was no gift. I bought a gift, but I didn’t get anything in return.

Ideal: I’m a very simple girl so I don’t expect a lot when it comes on to gift ideas, but I just expect a little effort in return. I love flowers though so I guess my ideal gift idea would be flowers, and something I’ve been mentioning to you that I want, for example if I mentioned that I wanted a handbag or something.

A.H.

Worst: Raisins

Ideal: Tulip bouquet and a well-planned night in.

T.H.

I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day so I don’t have a bad gift.

Ideal: Quality time and anything that thought was put into, because it tells me that you’re thinking of me.

B.B.

Worst: Lazy chocolate and three roses? No thought no creativity into the gift. Zero stars.

Ideal: Twenty-six tulips bouquet or a vacation in Europe. Being realistic though with me and my man’s current tax bracket, a well-planned night in, decorated room, food, movie.

N.D.

I have never received a bad gift.

Ideal: A handwritten note with roses.

D.K.

Worst: Sex. Because, I mean, that’s a regular thing.

Ideal: A romantic date with random notes of how much you love and appreciate me, then after dinner a room decorated for us to just unwind and focus on each other.

S.G.

I haven’t received a bad gift. Ideal: A spa certificate.

A.M.

I don’t do Valentine’s Day because I don’t think you need a day to celebrate the person.

Ideal: But my ideal gift would be household stuff, so anything that I’m able to use multiple times. I don’t like gifts that can only be used once. I love things to put in my house.

C.B.

Ideal: My ideal gift would probably be my ideal date which is just spending the day reading or watching movies and cooking together.

M.M.

Ideal: Money, my favourite chocolate and of course Supligen.

K.J.

Ideal: Something intimate and romantic. Quality time with each other, in a nicely decorated room. Flowers would be nice, red roses and we’re both dressed up. Just us and a violinist.

MALE RESPONSES:

L.F.

Worst: My worst Valentine’s Day gift was some half-dead roses.

Ideal: Time spent and memories made with my significant other.

C.G.

Worst: I planned to meet up with a girl and she didn’t show up. I got stood up.

Ideal: Two days at a resort or hotel.

Y.N.

Worst: I got nothing and then was told that sex would make it up.

Ideal: A watch or cologne.

J.B.

I can’t think of a bad experience.

Ideal: A surprise party with friends and gifts based on my likes.

E.D.

Worst: Flowers. Regardless of sex I think that’s a silly gift and the money is better used for something else.

Ideal: My ideal Valentine’s Day gift would probably be something me and my Valentine could do together, I don’t think I’d want to be gifted anything in particular (unless it’s something I’d always like, like cologne for example or a nice watch) I think valentine’s gifts in the traditional sense of gift-giving is a uniquely woman thing. For me I’d want to see her dolled up or we can do something together as a couple.

S.M.

I’ve never got a bad Valentine’s Day gift since I’ve only ever got one gift.

Ideal: I’m a man so I don’t really have an ideal Valentine’s Day gift.

C.J.

I haven’t really received any gifts in the past, so I don’t have a worst gift.

Ideal: Ideal for me not being picky, spa day to feel king treatment – mani, pedi massage. I like whiskey bottle of Johnny walker black with a touching note. Guys rarely get gifted though so anything would be appreciated.

R.E.

Worst: I only ever received one gift, but my worst experience is not having the girl I wanted to spend the day with.

Ideal: Quality time with my special someone.
