Revaldo Mitchell: I’m a different player now

- Gregory Bryce/Gleaner Writer

WATERHOUSE’S MAN of the moment Revaldo Mitchell says he feels like a ‘different player’ as he begins to hit his stride in the Wray & Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League.

Mitchell was the difference for Waterhouse last time out as his 25th-minute goal secured all three points for his team over Vere United on Monday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

“It feels good to score the winning goal for the team to get us the three points and to keep the team in the top six. It’s a great feeling,” he said.

Mitchell chalks up his recent goalscoring form, which has seen him bang in three in his last four appearances, to a sense of belonging at Waterhouse.

Having already represented Molynes United and Arnett Gardens in the league, Mitchell said Waterhouse feels like ‘home’.

“I mean, I’m at home now. I’m on three goals now and it’s my best goalscoring season, so I’ll just keep grinding and getting back to my old self. I’m trying to recreate my game and go forward.”

Mitchell was a schoolboy standout in the Manning Cup for Wolmer’s Boys known for his skilful dribbles and creative play. He would go on to represent Jamaica at the 2019 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championships.

Now at 21 years old, Mitchell looks a completely different player.

While he still maintains his flair on the ball, he explained that the Premier League has forced him to change the way he plays.

“It’s a higher level in the Premier League. As I said, I’ve been recreating my game. I’m a different player now from when I was 17. It’s more physical now, so I have to play a lot quicker and really know what I’m doing. Everybody knows I’m a flair player, so I have to just do my skills quicker at this level.”

Waterhouse sit sixth in the league on 26 points, eight points behind Arnett Gardens who they will play in their next fixture.
