CAVALIER DEFENDER Richard King says he is ready to give his all as his team faces an uphill task in the return leg of their Champions Cup fixture against FC Cincinnati at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati tonight at 7:00.

Cavalier went down 2-0 to FC Cincinnati in the first leg at the National Stadium on Thursday night.

King rues the loss in the first leg as he believes his team had a good defensive display on the night.

Cincinnati controlled much of the possession during the game but only scored in the dying minutes of each half.

“As you can see, we lost twonil, so I really wouldn’t rate the performance. Unfortunately, we conceded in the two last minutes of the halves. We were defending well throughout the game but I think we just didn’t end well,” said King.

Cavalier have a reputation of playing attacking football in the Wray & Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League (JPL). Against Cincinnati however, Cavalier played defensively, mainly attacking on the counter.

According to King, this was deliberate, explaining that his teammates have no problems with switching their style of play.

“Well, it’s something that we’ve been training on doing against them. It’s a game that we’ve played before because we mix it up sometimes but it was just unfortunate that we’ve conceded the way we did in the last minutes of the two halves.”

King is aware of the massive task ahead if Cavalier are to advance to the next round.

However, he is undeterred by the challenge and believes his team has the ability to overturn the tie.

“Whether home or way, we’re playing against a quality team. All we have to do is just stick to the game plan and just fix up on the mistakes that we made. As you can see, we played well. It was just those two mistakes.”
