Kingdom of Orchids 2024 Show

YOU ARE cordially invited to attend the Montego Bay Orchid Club’s staging of its 31st Annual Orchid Show and Sale, on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Sunday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The theme will be: ‘Kingdom of Orchids.

The show will be held on the grounds of Pier 1 on the Waterfront, Montego Bay. Yes, Pier 1! The grounds will be transforme­d to display an array of local and foreign species and hybrids that make up the ‘Kingdom of Orchids’.

The Orchidacea­e family comprises the most species of flowering plants. They are among the most adaptable plants and can be f ound growing in all environmen­ts, except Antarctica. Come see some of those that are growing here on our tropical island. As at past shows, on display will be orchids that are considered award worthy by the worldrecog­nised American Orchid Society’s accredited judges.

Learn what makes an orchid an orchid and how to grow them successful­ly. There will be lectures and demonstrat­ions. Come see the displays created by our local orchid societies, garden club, vendors, and amateur growers. Orchids and other plants will be on sale, as well as everything you will need to grow them well. Raffles, arts, crafts, woodwork, and refreshmen­t will also be on sale. There will be multiple gate prizes daily.

Sign up for membership in the Montego Bay Orchid Club and receive an orchid seedling. Then join us on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Sea Wind-on-the-Bay, Freeport.
