ARNETT GARDENS were in sublime form as they thrashed Real MoBay 8-0 courtesy of a Briana Crosby hat trick in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.

Arnett started their offensive onslaught in the 15th minute as Lydia Hall’s curling right-footed shot sneaked inside the net. By the 29th minute, it was 2-0 as Crosby’s thumping right-footer proved too difficult to stop. As Arnett continued their relentless pursuit of goals, Shaneil Spence got in on the action, carving her way through the Real MoBay defensive line like a hot knife through butter. On the stroke of half-time, the lead extended to 4-0 as Spence registered her second, converting from close range.

In the second half, it was a similar storyline, as Crosby got her second in the 46th minute, her powerful shot too hot to handle for Real MoBay’s custodian, Sashay Morgan.

Eight minutes later her hat trick was completed, sloppy defending allowing Crosby to find acres of space in the box. Amanda Steele, in the 57th minute, and Tuanashae-Paris Hamilton, in the 79th, were the other scorers as Arnett Gardens completed their goal fest on the afternoon.

Tamara Williams, head coach of Arnett Gardens, said that her squad was just too much for Real MoBay on the day.

“We didn’t know what they had to offer so we took the first half to see that. It wasn’t really about the goals but executing what we practised. I really commend the team for coming out, but we were a little bit too much for the opponents on the day,” she said.

Marvin Peterkin, head coach of Real MoBay, said fatigue could have played a big part in his team’s performance.

“We had five schoolgirls who played a full game on Friday, so it was very difficult. We are still in a rebuilding phase, but we will get better from here as we showed fight,” said Peterkin.
