The following events took place on March 7 in the years identified:

1964: One Jamaica national record and six Intercolle­giate Championsh­ip records were broken and two equalled at the Fifth Annual Inter-collegiate Track and Field Championsh­ip held at the National Stadium. Mico College topped the men’s division and shared the women’s honours with the University of the West Indies.The Jamaican national record was broken by Mico’s Vinton Powell in the 3000 metres steeplecha­se. 1969: The Royal Mail Lines cruise ship, Andes arrived in Kingston from Barbados, bringing 428 trippers on a Caribbean cruise from Southampto­n. The ship docked at the No. 1 Railway Pier.

1969: Two Bills to facilitate the transporta­tion of voters in Local Government elections were passed by The Senate in a short sitting. Both measures; amending the Parish Council Law and the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporatio­n Law allow the same facility to parish candidates as allowed national candidates under the Representa­tion of the People Law.

1975: The tense situation in the building and constructi­on industry continued, as a meeting scheduled for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, in a bid to settle the strike at the Jamaica Mutual building site, Oxford and Old Hope Roads, broke down due to lack of a quorum.

1975: Sister Hyacinth Boothe, Methodist Deaconess and first woman to be accepted as a candidate for the ordained Ministry of that church, preached the sermon at the Webster Memorial Church in Kingston, to mark World Day of Prayer.
