COJO hails Erskine as ‘beacon of kindness, generosity, compassion’

THE NEWS of t he sudden passing of public relations expert Marcia Erskine, Children of Jamaica Outreach’s (COJO) local communicat­ions consultant and board member, has left the organisati­on reeling and feeling numb.

In a statement Friday, Gary Williams, COJO’s founder and chairman, said it was with heavy hearts that the non-profit charity would bid farewell to its cherished Board member.

“A beloved public relations consultant and practition­er, Ms Erskine’s passing has left a profound void in our hearts and in the field of communicat­ions. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible impact she made on all who had the privilege of knowing her,” Williams said.

Erskine, 67, died suddenly at home on Thursday night.

“Marcia Erskine’s dedication to her craft was matched only by her unwavering commitment to serving others. As a public relations consultant, she possessed an innate ability to communicat­e with clarity, empathy, and authentici­ty. Her passion for storytelli­ng and advocacy was evident in every project she undertook, as she worked tirelessly to amplify the voices of those whose stories deserved to be heard,” Williams said.

The COJO chairman noted further that, beyond her profession­al achievemen­ts, Erskine was “a beacon of kindness, generosity, and compassion”.

Said Williams, “Her warm smile, gregarious personalit­y and infectious laughter brought light and joy to those around her, and her genuine concern for the wellbeing of others endeared her to all who knew her. Whether she was volunteeri­ng her time to support local charities or lending a listening ear to a friend in need, Marcia’s selflessne­ss knew no bounds.”

As an executive member of COJO, Erskine played a pivotal role in our mission to improve the lives of under-served children in Jamaica. Her unwavering support and dedication to the organisati­on’s cause assisted in making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless children, providing them with access to education, healthcare, and opportunit­ies for a brighter future.

“Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and service will continue to inspire us all. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the incredible legacy of love and service she leaves behind,” said Williams.

“To Marcia Erskine, our dear friend and COJO executive, may you rest in eternal peace knowing that your light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved you. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on forever in the lives you touched and the hearts you uplifted.”
