The perfect season for sharing

-

SINCE THE beginning of Lent, we have been discussing who Jesus is, so that as Christians, we can be clear about what we believe and why. We discussed that Jesus was fully human and fully God as the only Son of God, born of a woman but with the DNA of God as His Father. This qualified Jesus to be the Messiah, which earned Him the title ‘Christ’. Christ is not Jesus’ surname, but His title as the One who came to save mankind.

We also discussed the fact that He is Lord, and this means that we owe Him our worship and obedience. Jesus isn’t just Lord of those who choose Him; the Bible tells us that He is Lord of all the living, and that the day will come that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. We can do it willingly now, or be compelled to do it later.

For those who have accepted Jesus as Christ and Lord and received Him as Saviour, we need to share Him. The good news of Jesus is something far too precious to keep to ourselves. It is meant to be shared. Knowing who Jesus is, and realising that there is salvation through no other except Him, is a revelation from God that we have been entrusted with, and an incredible responsibility.

As born-again Christians, we have been given the job of telling others about Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul tells us that we have been entrusted with the message of reconciliation and God has given us the ministry of reconciliation. That “…we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us…” (2 Corinthians 5:20, NLT).

CELEBRATING CHRIST

Jesus is a must for us as believers, but Jesus is also a must for the world. Easter is the most prominent Christian season of celebrating Christ, and presents us with the perfect opportunity to start a movement that will transform the world around us. As God’s Church, we should work together to make a significant impact in a world that needs to meet the Saviour. For those of us who are believers, it is the perfect time to touch our nation in a powerful way and spread this gospel across the length and breadth of our island. Let us be deliberate about preparing ourselves to spread the name of Jesus.

“18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” ( Matthew 28:18-20, NIV).

Every believer is called to the Great Commission, therefore every believer has a part to play. There is a way that the Lord can use each of us to reach others. We serve a wonderful Saviour, and He deserves all glory and honour. There is none like Him, and none can compare to Him. As our lives have been blessed and transformed by Jesus, we should want the same for those around us.

Praying for others who need to meet Christ is a good place to start. We should also ask the Holy Spirit to guide and open opportunities for us to share the love of Jesus with others and invite them to church. Let us invade this nation for Jesus.
