Stunt riders for Easter event in St Mary

-

SOME OF Jamaica’s best bike riders and top stunters are super excited to be showcasing their wheelie, stoppie, acrobatics, burnout and drifting skills this Easter weekend at Stunt Side, which is being promoted as “di ultimate family fete”.

This is the third annual staging of the event, which has chosen St Mary as its home, but is hosted in different locations in the parish each year. On March 31, Daylight Stunter, Keyfah Stunter, 1Almighty and Murda Time stunter, all from Kingston; and Antshead Stunter from Westmoreland will be “out and stunting”at the Wycliffe Martin High School (formerly Brimmer Vale High) in St Mary.

“There is something to look forward to at this event every year and believe it or not there is a cultlike following for stunters across Jamaica,” promoter Kashawn Gordon explained.

“Stunters put in a lot of work into this but they just don’t get enough positive attention. This event gives them something to look forward to. It’s a very unique event ... it’s not your typical staging of music and drinks and dancing. There is an actual live performance from some of Jamaica’s most skilled and famous ‘stunters’ ... it’s music, great food and top-tier performances that will keep the patrons on their feet,” he added.

Gordon and his team emphasised that the stunt riders are exceptionally skilful and have taken the time to practise their craft and also to modify their motorcycles to perform multiple tricks.

“These are professional stunt riders who are very respectful of the road code,” Gordon said, adding that it wss important to note that last year, Barrington ‘Daylight’ Heslop and his team hosted a country tour with the aim of teaching young riders on how to safely ride their motorcycles on the roads.

Keeping true to the “family” promise, there will be bounceabouts and ice for the children and chefs from St Mary will be in the house.

“It’s an event that’s always has a great turnout. I am not expecting anything less this year. We will be having giveaways such as human hair, Tory Burch sandals, televisions and microwaves,” Willis shared.

Music will be by Daylight Mobile sound from Kingston and Reason Doubt from St Mary.
