IN TODAY’S world, clients are looking for innovation, creativity and a wow experience to deliver their brand. With 40 years of experience, Phase Three Productions has positioned themselves as the complete solution for their clients’ wildest dreams. As a world-class multimedia service provider, a television/film/video content producer for global audiences anywhere and any time, the company has been able to match strides with the best in the field.

Over the years, the company has solidified its position in the multimedia world and has now branched out in other areas and services. Delano Forbes, CEO of Phase 3, says the company is now a full-service execution agency.

“We have invested significantly in event staging, trussing, lighting and PA systems for events of various sizes, so our in-house capabilities have grown beyond what we have become traditionally known for. Our clients now rely on us as a one-stop solution,” Forbes shares in a media release.

Phase Three has spread its wings internationally and has provided a cadre of seasoned professionals to work on international tournaments such as the Concacaf Gold Cup from 2017 to 2023, the Concacaf Beach Soccer Tournament, Concacaf Champions Cup and, most recently, the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup. Armed with this experience, they have been involved with preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be staged in Mexico and North America.

The talent at Phase Three runs deep, as they have also been involved with delivering the TV broadcast for the Jamaica Classic Basketball Tournament for CBS Sports and the Sandals Dunn’s River Launch with live elements aired on the 2023 BET TV Awards Show, ABC’s Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live, featuring Spice, Sean Paul and Shaggy. We have also been deploying production teams to the USA, providing consultancy and venue management to largescale events.

When you call the names of Reggae Sumfest, the Chris Brown ‘Under the Influence’ Concert, Beres Hammond’s productions, Rebel Salute, Shaggy & Friends, Lost In Time Festival, Alkaline’s ‘New Rules’Concert, among many others, Phase Three has been involved in delivering these to the eyes of the world, utilising its own crew, equipment and creative expertise.

Phase 3 has been at t he forefront of event execution of many of Jamaica’s blue-chip companies, such as Sandals Resorts International, Sagicor, Red Stripe, Jamaica Tourist Board, Jamaica Broilers, GraceKennedy, VP Records and Scotiabank, to name a few. All these companies have looked to Phase 3 for solutions that are innovative, impactful and forward-thinking.

“The pandemic prompted us to upgrade our offerings, because we saw the need for more streaming and digital services with increased digital meetings islandwide and a rise in online engagement. We pivoted with the wind of change and adjusted to fill that gap with cutting-edge technology and applications,” Forbes added.

EVOLUTION AND GROWTH

A moment that stands out for Forbes in its history was the tragic loss of the company’s facility in a fire in 1999, but like the proverbial phoenix, Phase 3 rose from the ashes, redoubling efforts and rebuilding from scratch, to now celebrating an amazing milestone of 40 years this year.

“Over the years, a lot of our successes have come out of hardships. My father going blind when I was a teenager is one such. Coming out of that, I had to help out in the business after school. I became his personal chauffeur,” he states with a smile.

“Regardless, he was still very much in charge and signing the cheques,” Forbes recalled of his late father, who was a stalwart in the media and communications industry.

A film graduate of NYU, Forbes, armed with free rein of the business since 2001, has made major decisions about the direction of Phase 3, taking it from a small family business to a force to be reckoned with.

“There has been evolution and growth, and I have added quite a bit of value to the company. I will continue to direct this growth – making decisions that we believe will be great for the business and the team. We have a very experienced and talented team, who have helped to propel Phase 3 and keep us ahead of the curve,” he added. In recent years, investment in cutting-edge technology has seen the company diversifying its services, attracting international clientèle and contributing to the growth of the local industry in ways that are unique, especially in the area of live production, digital engagement and audiovisual production.

But what’s next for Phase 3? Forbes remains resolute that wherever the tide takes the company, he is ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities with an open mind and a mission to continue to make his parents proud.
