AS THE world commemorates World Water Day 2024 under the theme ‘Leveraging Water for Peace’, it is imperative to reflect on the vital role that water plays in fostering harmony, sustainability, and progress. In Jamaica, a nation blessed with abundant natural beauty, pristine coastlines, and lush landscapes, water serves as not only a source of life and livelihood, but also a catalyst for unity and citizen participation. Empowering young Jamaicans to actively participate in safeguarding the country’s water resources is not only a necessity, but a moral imperative if we are to remain the “land of wood and water” and prevent ‘water wars’ within, between and among communities. By harnessing the enthusiasm of Jamaica’s youth, we can catalyse a movement towards sustainable water management practices that will benefit both present and future generations. How? Through…
