STERLING ASSET Management has donated $1 million to Crime Stop Jamaica to support crime-prevention efforts across the island.

Charles Ross, president and CEO of Sterling Asset Management, addressing a media conference on Tuesday, expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing partnership with the charity.“For the past three years, we have stood alongside Crime Stop in their mission to combat crime and create safer communities. Today, we are pleased to reaffirm our dedication by contributing an additional $1 million to this vital cause.”

Over the years, Sterling has partnered with Crime Stop, most recently being their donation of $5 million over a three-year period for the “Stand up for our country” campaign. Ross has served on the board of directors of the charity since 1991.

“We believe in the power of community and the collective responsibility we all share in creating safer environments for ourselves and future generations. Crime prevention is not merely a matter of law enforcement; it is a collaborative effort that requires the active involvement of businesses, organisations, and individuals,” he added.

Sandra Glasgow, chairperson of National Crime Prevention Fund, and spokesperson of Crime Stop expressed her gratitude for the support. “Your belief in our mission to prevent crime and keep our communities safe is reflected not only in your financial contributions, but also in the dedication and enthusiasm with which you engage with our cause,” she remarked. “Together, we are not just fighting crime; we are working to build a future where safety and security are a reality for everyone.”

A release from the company notes that the donation from Sterling Asset Management will enable Crime Stop Jamaica to enhance its programmes, expand its reach, and implement innovative strategies to combat crime more effectively. The funds will support initiatives such as the seizure of illegal firearms, assistance in arrests, recovery of stolen property, and community projects to engage at-risk youths.

The press conference concluded with a call to action for stakeholders, clients, and partners to join Sterling Asset Management in supporting Crime Stop Jamaica’s mission. “Together, we can make a profound and lasting impact that transcends borders and transforms lives,” Ross said.
