“This column is a no- judgement zone where mi jus talk mi mind and give mi advice!” I AM AFRAID TO FEEL

-

afraid to feel.

Yuh tyad, yuh done, yuh numb to all the tricks, the lies and di false profiles. You can’t tell the difference anymore between what’s fake and what’s real, suh yu keep your true feelings to self with no intention to reveal. Instead of being a hopeless romantic, you’ve become unemotionally automatic. Burnt by so many flames from the past, you no longer allow the emotional feelings of love to last. The definition of your heart is cold, as memories of your past take its toll. You sabotage any potential to experience ‘ true love’ because in your vocabulary those two words don’t exist.

How do you resolve this? How do you become less afraid to feel? The day you realise that the past is as present as you allow it to be! I’ve loved, I’ve lost, and I’ve loved again because I not only deserve to be loved, but I deserve the experience of giving love. The past does help to sculpt our present, but it doesn’t define it. The beauty about time is that this time you have the freedom to do love differently. Instead of becoming numb, be proud that you allowed yourself to feel, allow time to give your wounds some healing, then steadily pace yourself from your past to your present. As in the present is a gift of self awareness, stillness, surety of what you want, who you deserve and the fact that if you let love in there is a chance to make your present moments much greater than your past memories.

Let go of the ‘ then’, live in the now, love in the now, experience all the feelings you can, as now is all we are guaranteed to have. FEEL FREE TO CHAT WITH ME BY EMAILING ME AT KEEPINGITREALRENNAE@ GMAIL. COM OR
