Starface blames Chug It boo on Spice’s fans

- CURTIS CAMPBELL Staff Reporter

Dancehall artiste Starface received the boo of her life recently when she attempted to perform at a packed Chug It hosted in Portmore.

The deejay, who is known for her raunchy dressing and her controversial appearance, believes her boo was unwarranted.

She believes fans of fellow dancehall artiste Spice were behind the moment of embarrassment, since many were disgruntled about her decision to call out the top-flight deejay for allegedly not helping the struggling careers of other female artistes.

She also posted a video on social media hinting that she would be addressing certain issues at the event.

“No artiste nuh too big to get boo. Me not saying me cannot get boo, but this one was planned. From me make the video, everybody a repost say me a go take the mic at Chug It and talk a bag a things, from that me a get message say if me ever call Spice name what and what a go happen. Even when I was at the show, a girl come to me and tell me don’t go on stage cause two bus load a people come to boo you,” she said.

DISADVANTAGE

Starface also said that since Chug It was held in Portmore, she was already at a disadvantage since Spice is from that area.

“Me come from Kingston, Denham Town me born and grow, everybody know say a Portmore is Spice community, so them set me up. When I was told at the show, I never make much of it, I make it go through the other ear. Cause me done already reach and prepare me self. Me a nuh coward to back down, so me still go on stage. How I get boo is a mystery because people give me forward and me get another call back on stage. Then when I was called back me start hear people a boo. That sound strange to me,” she said.

She further suggested that her status as a young artiste facilitated her predicament.

“I am new to this industry and me hear that they can be very cruel to newcomers. Time is the master still.”

The outspoken deejay is currently promoting singles like Whine Up, produced by Cornelius records, Tek Wuk, featuring Elephant Man, and Direct Message (DM), featuring Facebook Hero.

Efforts to get a comment from Spice’s camp proved futile as her phone rang without an answer.
