Hanson steps into booking agency race

-

Producer Adrian ‘Donsome’ Hanson has carved out a name in music circles. He started Riddim-Don Magazine, an online entertainment blog, then ventured into entertainment publicity when he started Riddim-Don Media.

His latest venture is Donsome Booking Agency. Although he still produces music, Hanson has thrown his muscle behind the agency, based in New York.

“Ten years ago, I did a course called ‘How to run a successful booking agency’, which taught me 90 per cent of what I need to know about the business,” he said. “Over the years, I been working closely with Violet Lawrence, who is one of the top booking agents in the music industry, and she always encouraged me take it serious.”

Hanson revealed how his agency plans to make a difference in booking artistes and enhancing their careers.

“I think that as a booking agent, we need to dig deeper for the artistes that we book for, we have to go all out to support the artiste’s career and not just wait until they find a hit for them to get a show,” he said.

Hanson believes a booking agent contract should be like a recording contract, where a booking agent invests in the artiste to get them (the artiste) to the next level.

“Nothing is wrong with investing in the artiste, because you can always recoup. So, those are what I intend on bringing to the game,” he said.

Donsome Booking Agency currently represents Ishawna, Metro Media Sound and ZJ Dymond.

The company previously handled non-exclusive bookings for RDX, Gyptian, Tony Matterhorn, Spice, Mr Vegas, Masicka, Tiana and Bugle. Hanson is working on a music project to be released in January 2017. His most recent release is the compilation Dancehall Brukout Vol. 1.
