Ready for 2017

-

With only a few days left in 2016, it’s typically the time when we look back at the year that was and evaluate. In my opinion, 2016 was the year that many unexpected things happened.

Among many other things, the Jamaica Labour Party won the general election, Donald Trump was elected the next president of the USA, Britain left the EU, Prince and George Michael died, Jamaicans dominated the Olympics, and Usain Bolt solidified his status as the king of athletics.

But there are many things in our personal lives that also happened.

Some of us gained or lost weight, got married, divorced, lost our jobs, had children. Basically, life has really knocked us about and some of us are barely standing.

Looking forward to 2017, what can we do to make it better than 2016? What do we need to improve in our lives?

I know many persons want to make more money and I’m sure they are working on plans to achieve that. But let’s address your personal life. What do you want to change?

MEET SOME NEW PEOPLE

If you’re still single and you want to find love, but when you look around you, all your friends are coupling up and getting married, it’s time for you to meet some new people.

Start a new class or hobby. Sign up for dance lessons, join a gym or running club. It doesn’t matter what you do; just make sure it’s something new and that you are interested so you stick to it.

IMPROVE INTIMACY

If you’re in a relationship and it seems like the romance has dried up and the honeymoon period is officially over, do something about it.

First, you need to sit your partner down and let him or her know that you want to make some changes. Then make the time to be with each other and do things you enjoy. Your time together should be fun and light. Rekindle what brought you together in the first place.

BOOST CONFIDENCE

Confidence is the most important attribute of anyone who wants to be happy. It affects every aspect of your life.

One of the best ways to boost your confidence is to get moving. Working out is not only good for your body, but it energises you and releases endorphins in your brain so that you feel very good about yourself.

So even if you don’t join a gym, working out can boost your confidence.

TAKE A TECH DETOX

We are too dependent on our devices. We spend most of our days on the Internet, especially on social media, to the point where we neglect the physical relationships that we have.

For many of us, the first and last thing we see every day is a screen. I know that for some of us, it’s work, but many people are just on social media browsing most of the time.

So designate some of the time during the day to unplug and turn away from your devices.

During that time, you can go for a walk with someone, have face-to-face conversation, or even just read a book.

It doesn’t matter what you do with the time; just take a tech time out.

INCREASE THE SEX

For many persons, sex is something you do when there’s nothing else to do, and they consider it a chore.

If you are in an intimate relationship, the quality of your sex life is a good measure of the overall quality of your relationship.

So get your freak on. Increase the number of times you have sex with each other by once per week. Just make sure you have fun and many orgasms.

If 2016 is anything to go by, 2017 is going to be a challenging year. Ensure you make the best of it and work on your human interactions. Make them count and be invested in your happiness.
