GOD SAVED MY BROTHER IN TIME

- GEORGE HENRY STAR Writer

Christians the world over can testify that God has done many things in their lives which they will long remember and cherish.

Deacon Michael Simpson of the White Chapel Church of God of Deliverance at Mocho in Clarendon is one of them.

Simpson testified that his brother called him from the United Kingdom some months ago and informed him that he had a tumour on his brain, the size of an egg.

“I was shocked at first, but I prayed with him. I went to my youth group which I was conducting at the time. I asked the youth group to bring a scripture one Saturday morning and to say something from it,” he said.

One young man brought one from the Book of Jeremiah 29:11, which declares that he called his brother and told him that he believed the Lord knew the plans He had for him.

The brother had planned to do an operation to remove the tumour.

ACCEPTING THE LORD

He added that family members and others around his brother spoke to him about accepting the Lord, especially because he was about to do the operation.

He said his brother thanked them for their concern, but said Christianity was not for him as he did not have the faith they did.

“He took the operation and had the tumour removed, and he was on the mend,” said Simpson.

The deacon said unfortunately a second tumour appeared; one that was larger than the first. His brother was given six months to live.

However, that was not God’s plan for him, because he lived for 19 months.

“But when he surprised me by coming to Jamaica in October last year for my birthday, I went to Montego Bay where he was with his wife, after he visited me at my home. I spoke to him again about the Lord and he did not make a commitment,” noted Simpson.

The churchman did not give up. He testified that he spoke to the Lord about his brother. It so happened that Simpson had to go to Montego Bay another day. He and his wife met with his brother once more.

“We had a good time together and I was there looking for an opportunity to speak to him about the Lord. Finally, it must have been about 7 p.m., and we had to drive back to Clarendon. I sat him down in the back of my car and started to speak to him about the Lord. I said to him, ‘you need to give your life to the Lord now’,” said Simpson.

Simpson said he was happy t hat after speaking t o his brother, he accepted the Lord as his personal saviour, right there in the back of his car.

“He went back to the United Kingdom and within two months he died. So I am so delighted that I have the assurance that I will see him again; and I really thank God for that,” testified Simpson. Feedback: pehenrya@hotmail.com
