Bacchanal Jamaica forging new partnerships

-

Mas Camp’s stage will be ablaze with colour tomorrow as the Bacchanal Jamaica team reveals the stunning array of costumes that will be available for patrons to play pretty mas in the road march on Sunday April 23.

This year’s selection will be the result of several exciting and creative partnerships between Bacchanal Jamaica and a few external designers.

“We made a strategic decision three years ago to embrace emerging, young talent within the Caribbean, with the view of expanding the creative diversity of Bacchanal Jamaica,” said Bacchanal director Charmaine Franklin.

INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION

Franklin said this also provides exposure for the new designers in an arena that is attracting increasing international attention.

“It has worked extremely well for us at Bacchanal Jamaica, and we believe that the experience has been mutually beneficial,” she said.

Over the last two years, Bacchanal has included costumes from local and diaspora designers such as PeenyWallie with PeenywallieMas, Jodie Stewart and Bonnie Lee with Unleashed. This year newcomer Jessica Campbell will also present her designs.

The concept of partnership has been expanded to include marketing support by other internationally recognised carnival entities.

Reputed Caribbean event-promotion companies Caesar’s Army and Trini Jungle Juice are joining forces with Bacchanal Jamaica to market individual sections of the costumes internationally.

Miami’s Michelle Samm and Jeremy Nicholls of Roast Entertainment out of Barbados will also be collaborating.

The well-known Frenchmen team will also partner fully with Bacchanal Jamaica.
