Generations will clash at Magnum Live
Astellar line-up covering three generations of dancehall music is set to score at Kingston’s Sabina Park at the Magnum Live concert.
Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, and Capleton, whose careers took off in the 1980s, are the veterans on the bill.
They will be joined by Spice and Popcaan, who have been dominant dancehall players in the last decade.
Upcoming turks, Jahmeil and Masicka, alongside newcomers Shenseea and last year’s Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall winners Accid and Clymaxx will also be performing. All will be backed by the Ruff Kutt band.
Tamika West, marketing manager at J Wray and Nephew Ltd, manufacturers of Magnum Tonic Wine, said the brand and dancehall go hand in hand.

INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
Beenie, Bounty, and Capleton are prime examples of the genre’s staying power.
‘The Doctor’, ‘The War Lord’ and ‘King Shango’ (their respective nicknames) have been making hit songs for 30 years, and in the 1990s into early 2000s they enjoyed sustained international success.
Popcaan is arguably the most exciting act of dancehall’s new generation, while Spice has grown into a dancehall heavyweight since making her debut at Sting in 2000.
Fast-rising Masicka is set to reunite with Clymaxx, when they perform. This will be one of the few times that both Masicka and Clymaxx, who share a child, will appear on a major bill together.
