- CURTIS CAMPBELL STAR Writer

Incarcerated dancehall artiste Adidjah Azim Palmer, popularly known as ‘Vybz Kartel’, will be celebrating his dominance in dancehall today, courtesy of part two of the TJ Records-produced event titled Vybz, which will be held under the theme ‘Colouring this World: Celebrating the reigning King of The Dancehall’.

Vybz will be held at Oniel’s Place car park on Hagley Park Road, St Andrew, and promises to pull a strong turnout of Gaza loyalists, as well as ring in Vybz Kartel’s birthday the following day.

“This is the second staging. The first was very successful, so much so that it exceeded our expectations. This one will be bigger and better because social media has been buzzing with excitement, and persons have been calling radio stations for passes,” Chanel Ivey, a member of the organising team, told THE WEEKEND STAR.

According to Ivey, Vybz Kartel’s dominance in dancehall cannot be overstated.

“We are celebrating his birthday because, under the current situation, he is still running dancehall, and that within itself says it all. The party will conclude at 2 a.m., so I want patrons to turn out early. We celebrate the party on Friday but his birthday is Saturday, so we are actually ringing in his birthday there,” she said.

Fire Links, Code Red and ZJ Chrome will provide music for the event. Vybz will also feature special guest artistes.

The event is sponsored by DownSound records, Zojak Worldwide, TJ Records, 21st Hapilos and others.

To attend the event, patrons may purchase pre-sold tickets for $1,000 or pay $1,500 at the gate. However, ladies will be admitted on a two-for-one deal

before midnight.
