UNDER-17 COACHES ATODDS!
Coach of Jamaica Under-17 men’s national team Andrew Edwards and his assistant Omar Edwards (no relation) are said to be at odds as they prepare for the CONCACAF Under-17 competition.
STAR Sports has learnt that both coaches were involved in a “bust up”, and the assistant was fired. However, days later, Omar Edwards was reinstated into the programme.
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) announced earlier in the week that veteran coach Wendel Downswell joined the Under-17 set-up as the technical advisor.
Coach Andrew Edwards could not be reached for comment. When the newspaper called his phone, it went unanswered several times.
Meanwhile, the Under-17 squad is currently in camp in preparation for the CONCACAF tournament. They will engage a St Ann invitational team in a game today, starting at 10 a.m. at Drax Hall.
Then, the national team will tackle a St Mary aggregation at 3 p.m., at the St Mary Sports Complex.
