-

The recently concluded Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise donated approximately 700 books to the Jamaica Library Service, for the third year in a row.

Cruisers were asked to take along with them books for donation on the weeklong cruise, which began on Monday, November 13, when it left Fort Lauderdale and headed to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where the books were donated to the Ocho Rios branch of the Jamaica Library Service (JLS).

Pleased to make the presentation was reggae artiste Kabaka Pyramid who was delighted to be greeted by students of the Millford Basic, Ocho Rios Primary and Infant and St John’s Preparatory schools.

JLS region three director Merlene Walker said the organisation was grateful for the generous donations of children’s books to the Ocho Rios Branch Library.

“The JLS welcomes donation of this nature as there is always a need, and donations like this assist us in fulfilling our mission of enabling national development through the development of a knowledge-based society of culturally aware, lifelong learners through the provision of universal access to information,” she said.
