Hotta Rice heating up in dancehall

-

Known within the industry as Hotta Rice, popular sound system selector and event promoter Harold Morgan continues to work hard in a bid to permanently cement his name among those in the top tier of dancehall. The Kingston 13 native shares that he has been working day and night for over eight years to reach where he is today.

“As a youth growing up I always knew nothing great comes easy, so I am always in overdrive and on the go. At a young age, I realised I had a passion for dancehall, but I never took it to a professional level until around six years ago. There is no limit to what you can achieve if you work hard,” he said.

With a career backed by his slogan, ‘#10 fi di Streets’, Hotta Rice continues to excel. Just this year, he walked away with the Selector of the Year Award at Uptown Mondays.

He is also affiliated with one of the popular weekly events in Kingston.

“Day Rave Thursdays started as an early event by my brother, and seeing its potential, I got on board and we made it happen,” he said. “At the moment, it is one of the biggest weekly parties and every major dancehall star you can think of is here on a Thursday night. We appreciate the love and support the industry has shown us over the past four years, and we can only get bigger at this point.”

Hotta Rice is hoping to take his career to the next level.

“There are promoters in other Caribbean countries and the USA who have seen my work and have heard me play and are ready to book me for their next event. With God in the mix, everything is going to happen,” he said.
