The St Catherine Traffic Department said that criminal charges are imminent against national cyclist Marloe Rodman, whose motorcycle caused the death of a man.

Dead is Anthony Gordon of Gordon Pen district, St Catherine.

Head of the St Catherine North Traffic Department, Sergeant Donovan Barnes, said that Rodman will have a case to answer.

“We (the police) are going through due process and have collected several statements in the matter with a view of bringing criminal charges against Mr Rodman,” he said.

While not elaborating, Barnes said Rodman is likely to face several breaches of the Road Traffic Act.

DOING STUNT

Reports are that on Sunday at about 1 a.m., Rodman was driving his Honda CBR R600 motorcycle along Gordon Boulevard in St Catherine.

Barnes said information is that Rodman was allegedly doing stunts with the motorcycle when he lost control. The bike then fell on top of Gordon, who was seated on a stationary bike.

Both bikes were extensively damaged and bystanders managed to pull the CBR off Gordon.

Both Rodman and Gordon were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where Gordon succumbed to his injuries.

Rodman was subsequently transferred to the University Hospital of West Indies, where he has been admitted in serious condition.
